Twelve lighting poles have been restored on the Danube Bridge at Ruse
The restoration of twelve lighting poles on the Danube Bridge at Ruse has been completed, these are all the structures dismantled so far. Work is ongoing on the removed 413-meter-long pedestrian railing. The integrity of the damaged individual elements is being restored, and new elements are being manufactured where restoration isn't possible. The bridge renovation spans over 400 meters in the lane heading towards Bulgaria, and the building and construction works are being carried out according to the approved schedule.
Between October 30 and November 5, the installation of the cornice panels that form the outer edge of the pavement block was completed. The total length of the installed cornice panels is 413 meters along the flyover section in the right-hand lane. The waterproofing layer beneath the pavement block has been completed, along with the reinforcement and concrete for the first section, covering 206 meters out of a total 413 meters. The PVC pipes planned in the project have also been installed in the pavement block where concrete has already been laid.
Renovation of the anti-corrosive coating of the steel support structure continues, as well as the laying of concrete in the remaining 173 meters of the 413 meters of the closed section.
The new reinforced concrete road panels for the left lane of the bridge, each measuring 2.48m/4.40m and weighing 5.60 tonnes, are being produced at the required rate. Between October 30 and November 5, 12 of the 234 units built since the start of the renovation work were produced.
Building and construction works on the Danube Bridge continue without any disruption of traffic and the facility will not be shut down. The site is being worked on daily during daylight hours. The work process is organized and carried out in such a way that vehicles pass in stages in a reversible manner in the lane which is not under construction.
Up-to-date information on the repair works can be found in the special section "Information on the Danube Bridge repair" on the website of the Road Infrastructure Agency. The Agency team provides regular updates on facility repairs and is available for further questions and clarifications.
