The waterproofing on the road slab of the Danube Bridge at Ruse is being applied
Waterproofing is being applied to a 240-meter-long section of the road slab as part of the major repair work on the Danube Bridge at Ruse. Between November 13 and November 19, reinforcement was installed, and PVC pipes for communication cables were laid in a section of the pavement block. Concrete work for the pavement block was completed last week along the entire section closed for repairs. Construction on the facility is progressing according to the approved schedule, covering a section over 413 meters long in the lane heading toward Bulgaria.
The manufacturing of new reinforced concrete road panels for the left lane is ongoing, along with the installation of some restored railing and light poles.
Next week, building and construction works will proceed under suitable weather conditions. The planned tasks include applying waterproofing to the remaining 173-meter section of the road slab, followed by the laying the asphalt layers. In parallel with these works, the anti-corrosive coating of the steel support structure will be renewed.
Building and construction works on the Danube Bridge continue without any disruption of traffic and the facility will not be shut down. The site is being worked on daily during daylight hours. The work process is organized and carried out in such a way that vehicles pass in stages in a reversible manner in the lane which is not under construction.
Up-to-date information on the repair works can be found in the special section "Information on the Danube Bridge repair" on the website of the Road Infrastructure Agency. The Agency team provides regular updates on facility repairs and is available for further questions and clarifications.
