The restored pedestrian railing of the Danube Bridge at Ruse is being installed

The first 102 meters of the restored pedestrian railing of the Danube Bridge at Ruse have been installed. So far, 413 meters of railing has been removed and is being restored, with a total length of 2120 meters. Starting November 6 through November 12, the installation of the restored lighting poles began, with a total of 12 poles removed so far. The bridge repairs are proceeding as scheduled, covering a section over 400 meters long in the lane heading toward Bulgaria.

Last week, reinforcement was installed, and pipes were laid for communication cables along a 68-meter section of the pavement block. Concrete was poured for a 34-meter section of pavement block, leaving 136 meters out of the total 413 meters in the closed section still to be completed.

Depending on the weather conditions, the construction works will continue next week with the installation of dowels, reinforcement and communication pipes and the laying of concrete in a 102-meter section out of the total 413 meters, as well as waterproofing on the road slab.

The restored railing and lighting poles will also be installed. In parallel with these works, the renewal of the anti-corrosive coating of the steel support structure will continue.

Building and construction works on the Danube Bridge continue without any disruption of traffic and the facility will not be shut down. The site is being worked on daily during daylight hours. The work process is organized and carried out in such a way that vehicles pass in stages in a reversible manner in the lane which is not under construction.

Up-to-date information on the repair works can be found in the special section "Information on the Danube Bridge repair" on the website of the Road Infrastructure Agency. The Agency team provides regular updates on facility repairs and is available for further questions and clarifications.
