The pedestrian railing and lighting poles of the Danube Bridge at Ruse are being restored

The restoration of the pedestrian railing and the lighting poles of the Danube Bridge at Ruse is in progress. They are of artistic value and when they are dismantled due to the major renovation of the facility; their integrity must be preserved, restored and reinstalled. So far, 413 meters of railing has been removed and is being restored, with a total length of 2120 meters. Twelve lighting poles have also been dismantled. Work is underway to restore the compromised integrity of individual elements and new elements are being manufactured. The bridge renovation spans over 400 meters in the lane heading towards Bulgaria, and the building and construction works are being carried out according to the approved schedule.

Twenty five road panels have been dismantled from October 2nd to 8th, or a total of 150 panels since the start of the works on July 10th. Twenty three new panels have also been installed, bringing the total to 133 panels. The process of making new reinforced concrete road panels is also ongoing. So far 175 pieces have been made. The existing collector system in the trestle section of the bridge, has been completely dismantled. The boreholes for the installation of bridge drains in a 240 m long section have been made and their installation has started. A three-layer anti-corrosion protection coating is to be applied to all steel elements and has already been replaced on a 206 m long section. A 34.4-meter section of the steel road structure has also been sandblasted.
