In temperatures above 35 degrees, trucks over 20 tons will be stopped on individual road sections
In connection with the weather forecasts and the expected rise in temperatures above 35 degrees, it is planned to restrict the movement of trucks over 20 tons on individual road sections in the afternoon from 1 pm to 9 pm. The district road authorities monitor the forecasts of the forecasters all year round and are instructed to take measures to limit heavy traffic. The aim is to minimize the risks of deformation of the road surface and to protect the life and health of travellers.
Vehicles will be stopped when proven appropriate and this will be coordinated with the relevant Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. When temporary restrictions are introduced, they will be announced by 12:00 the previous day.
When stopping traffic, heavy goods vehicles will wait outside the carriageway at designated locations without obstructing other road users. The restriction does not apply to motor vehicles carrying perishable foodstuffs, temperature-controlled loads, live animals and dangerous goods.
The Road Infrastructure Agency appeals to drivers to drive carefully and at a reasonable speed, to follow the traffic rules and not to undertake risky overtaking which endangers the safety of all other travellers. Do not use the emergency lanes on motorways to move faster in heavy traffic. In this way, the passage of special vehicles is prevented in the event of an accident.
