From 11th to 15th of June the traffic organisation on the Danube Bridge at Ruse is changed for emergency repairs of the pavement. For its patching, small sections will be closed in phases, where works will be carried out, in both lanes, with traffic being diverted to the free lane. The works will start in the lane towards Giurgiu from the border crossing and will be carried out only during daylight hours. At night there will be no restrictions on passing through the facility. Traffic will be regulated by road signs and traffic signals.

Emergency pavement patching is necessary to ensure safe travel through the facility. The activities will also help to ensure that traffic is not completely restricted during the forthcoming bridge overhaul. It is planned to start in July and the works will be carried out without traffic stops and traffic will be regulated by traffic lights. It will be operated daily for 10-12 hours a day, during daylight hours. The work process will be organised and carried out in phases so that vehicles pass in a two-way direction in the lane where no construction work is taking place.

No such work has been done since the facility was commissioned 70 years ago. Joint strengthening was done more than 22 years ago and the waterproofing and asphalt pavement was replaced in 2011. The technical design for the renovation of the facility provides for the complete replacement of the asphalt pavement, panels, waterproofing, new restraint systems, signage, etc. The contractor of the main repair of the Danube Bridge is the Danube Bridge Public Limited Liability Company. Its value is BGN 44 877 228,68 VAT included. The contract period for the works is 730 days. The construction supervision will be carried out by "Danube Bridge-PII-Strol". The value of their contract is BGN 848 400 VAT included.
