Installation of expansion joints on the Danube Bridge at Ruse has started
The installation of the expansion joints on the Danube Bridge at Ruse has started A total of 12 pieces will be installed in the nearly 400-meter-long enclosed section. Construction on the facility is progressing according to the approved schedule in the lane heading toward Bulgaria.
Between November 20 and 26, sandblasting of the steel superstructure was completed, and a three-layer corrosion protection system was applied to a section approximately 68 meters long. Waterproofing on the road slab was also finalized last week, followed by the application of asphalt layers across the entire section.
The manufacturing of new reinforced concrete road panels is ongoing, along with the installation of some restored railing and light poles.
During the next week, construction activities will be performed under suitable weather conditions, with planned work including the installation of expansion joints and railing, the installation of cable feeds for lighting on the installed lighting poles, the installation of safety barriers, and the installation of a collector system. Once the works are complete, the installation of horizontal markings will commence.
Building and construction works on the Danube Bridge continue without any disruption of traffic and the facility will not be shut down. The site is being worked on daily during daylight hours. The work process is organized and carried out in such a way that vehicles pass in stages in a reversible manner in the lane which is not under construction.
